Reflection on how this class has prepared me for the Colorado Performance-Based Standards for Teachers (CO-PBST) 7.1 Apply technology to the delivery of standards-based instruction.
I have created a WebQuest through google sites to deliver an assignment to students using the Colorado Performance-Based Standard for Teachers. I used standard 3 in Life Science. I also used the same standard for my Smartboard presentation using Smart Notebook.
7.2 Use technology to increase student achievement.
I created a digital story using photo story to increase confidence in students and classroom collaboration which in turn increases student achievement. I also made the WebQuest mentioned above and the Smartboard presentation which interacts with students. Both the WebQuest and Smartboard presentation allows students to explore and navigate information on their own and at their own pace which helps them absorb information. 7.3 Utilize technology to manage and communicate information.
I created a podcast to communicate my philosophy on education. My digital story was also a way to communicate and introduce myself to students. All of the projects in class were ways of communicating, whether it was vocal or not. Creating assignments is a way of communicating information as well.
7.4 Apply technology to data-driven assessments of learning.
I created a rubric by using http://rubistar.4teachers.org/ to use for assessing the assignments my students would turn in for my WebQuest. This was a great site that helped me create a table using their data and altering it slightly to fit my needs.
7.5 Instruct students in basic technology skills.
My WebQuest helped instruct students in basic technology skills. I created internal and external links for them to click on. The external sites were useful to help them learn. I also gave them clues as to what they would be needing to learn. Also, my Smartboard presentation helped students learn basic technology skills because I instructed them to “click and drag” objects in the puzzle I created using clone repeating. They also have clues with “fingers” pointing to what they need to do orclick on.
